Jefferson Davis Speaks Same Sex Marriage

wilde davisWe have now learned that Jefferson Davis supported slavery, and of course his statue must come down. I just wish we had learned of it earlier, maybe before the statue was sculpt.

There are other reasons to be done with Davis. When Oscar Wilde called on him in 1882 at the Davis plantation in Mississippi, Davis received the gay man courteously, but when the meeting was over, Davis told his wife, “I did not like the man.”

I also have it on good authority that Davis opposed same sex marriage, and was quoted as saying that if in the future, the Olympic Games were revived, he would oppose any male Olympic champion changing his gender after he won his gold medal.

So there you have it. Off with his head!
